About

Hi! I'm Nina, I'm a historical seamstress and patternmaker. I mostly specialize in 19th century fashion, but also also love Georgian and Edwardian era clothing. There's something about putting the dress on, looking in the mirror and seeing the silhouette that's you've seen on paintings and old photos. Your posture changes, your walk changes, you seem like a entirely different person - and in some way, you are. You know that feeling like you just travel in time, because this looks so much like a real thing? That's my favorite moment in making costumes.

I started my historical costuming journey back in 2018, when I went to historical dance studio in my town and instantly fell in love with it. I've had about six years experience in sewing at the time, so it was easier for me to start making historical garments. Then I started documenting my journey on Instagram, and I was so happy to find many wonderful costumers there, since I couldn't find anyone in my little town and felt alone because of that.

Later in 2020 I started my YouTube channel because I wanted to share my experience and post longer videos than it was allowed on Instagram. I made tutorials, sold patterns and I quickly realized that nothing brings me more happiness than to see that the things I make help others to explore their creativity. I hope you come along for this journey.
